Officially 27!

I just turned 27 years old, and I am like wow the number sounds weird to my ears. I have to get used to the fact that am 3 years away from the Big 30. Ahahahaha I can’t wait, but for now let me enjoy this season. You know what though? I am grateful to be alive during this season. Its indeed a season set apart for the Lord to do His mighty works. Who knew I will be alive at such a time like this? Despite all the challenges I faced during the past 26 years, I am grateful to say that they have officially shaped me into the beautiful and strong lady that I am today.

My life took another turn before the end of my 26th year on planet earth. I got married and just like some friends said, yesterday I celebrated my first birthday as a married woman (hahahah). Several people wished me a happy birthday, and yes am glad to say that Hubby (a word that I rarely pronounce-mainly because marriage is still surreal) was the first person to wish me happy birthday. I appreciate everyone’s wishes and blessings. I smiled and indeed had a great day.

I am happy to kick-start my 27th year and continuously pray that God favors me each and every day of my life. I live for Christ, so I aim to do and be a better person. Therefore I ask of you, please don’t hesitate to correct me whenever I misbehave or side-track.

I want to be better, I want you to be better too, I want us to be better, so lets work together to make ourselves better.

I pray that we become each others keeper and seek to continuously flourish together, because there is room for everyone at the TOP.

Stay blessed and Thank you for the wishes.

27 and blessed!

Daily perceptions

It’s a new year. The month of January is almost over and we are about to jump into the second month of the year. Prior to January 31st, I carefully and patiently pondered over this month’s blog post and suddenly thought about a lived experience.

The experience am referring to is the development of resentment and hatred due to misjudgment.

Human beings need to stop preconceived judgement and hatred! As I pondered over this statement, the following questions ran through my mind:

1) How often do we judge people based on what others have said?

2) Why do we use the information gathered from external sources as basis for our judgement and perception of others?

3) How many times have we fallen short in our attitude and interaction with others due to false or negative information received?

4) How often do we back track and say no to gossip or false information?

5) Have we realized that the more we listen to what people have to say about others, the more we develop a feeling of resentment towards those people?

6) Have you made a conscious decision to stop judging others based on what you hear?

As a result, it will be better to get to know people before Judging or negatively perceiving them.

I welcome you to join me in this quest for change and transformation. By changing our associations, we change our perception of others, we change the way we interact and the way we react.

Let’s pursue this with a passion and develop love for all mankind in lieu of resentment, doubt and hatred.

Happy new month!

Memories

I woke up in the morning;
Breath fresh air;
Said a prayer;
Took my shower;
Dressed up and left.

I went about my day;
Got to work;
Took my break;
Received a call;
A dear one was gone.

Continued with work;
Made a few calls;
Alerted others;
My life had changed;
She was precious.

She was my name sake;
I remember talking to her 3 weeks earlier;
Little did we both know;
She is now in a better place;
Watching over us all.

I go through the day;
Then night comes;
I sleep and dream about life together;
What the future would have been like;
I wake up and know it was all a dream.

I wake up and I thank God;
It’s a brand new day;
I am alive;
I can breath;
I am grateful.

I am grateful for her life;
I know she will want us to keep living;
I will keep our name shining for us;
She will forever be in my heart;
I miss you.

See you soon!!

Value #AtoZChallenge

Value is an important aspect of our lives. The way we value ourselves reflects our outlook on life, as well as our relationships and self worth.

Value could be defined as the regard that something is held to deserve; the importance, worth, or usefulness of something.

Or A person’s principles or standards of behavior; one’s judgment of what is important in life.

By our daily lifestyle, judgement and principles we are valued and constantly judged by others.

How much value do you ascribe to yourself? Or do you let others constantly define and devalue you?

We ought to showcase our values everyday. Broadcast our true selves and let other people know who and what we represent. By clearly outlining what we represent, be it in business, employment, community, friends and family, people will be ready to pay the price for our true value.

According to Warren Buffet “Price is what you pay, value is what you get”.

Our value is therefore worth more than its cost. No matter what people decide to pay, we ought to know what we represent. We should also be proud of what we represent, hence an improved self esteem.

A note to self: Appreciate your worth and be ready to stand up for your values and what you believe in.

Risk #AtoZChallenge

Risk represents exposure, vulnerability, doubt, the unknown and sometimes hope. Risk could either be positive or negative. Are we willing to lose something in order to gain more? Or are we willing to invest all we have to gain or lose?

By definition itself, risk is a challenge on its own. It’s a challenge because we abandon every other priority or dream to pursue one or more options. Its often dangerous.

Pursuing our dreams are crucial to our daily growth and overall worth and purpose on planet earth. So, how often do you risk?

Have you ever thought of risking your comfort to get into the unknown?
The unknown, represents the desire to attempt and achieve something new.

As an example, I was once faced with a dilemma in the course of talking about financial investments during a meeting with a financial advisor. He asked me how much risk I was willing to take? Am I a risky investor or a conservative investor? . By the end of discussion, I realized that I am a conservative investor. This led me to the conclusion that I have been conservative for most of my life. I have neglected some opportunities only because I wasn’t ready to leave my comfort zone. Hence, a low growth rate.

Let me ask you this question: How comfortable are you? Are you ready to risk something to achieve more?

From this encounter with the financial advisor, I noticed that in order for me to grow and achieve more, I must be willing to risk what I hold on to. By risking, it could be a simple decision to take a new course, attempt a new recipe, expand your network, write a book, start a business, talk to that lady/ guy you have been eyeing all along or perhaps take a trip to somewhere unknown.

I have my own fair share of risk to take. Yes, this year, I decided to things new and differently. One of the risk I took this year encapsulates this AtoZ blogging challenge. It has been a blessing so far.

What are you waiting for? Go forth and risk something that will make room for more.

Be blessed.

Oppression #AtoZChallenge

How do you deal with oppression?

Very often we get oppressed by others without any valid reason, but rather due to envy, jealousy, hatred or any other factor influencing negative behavior.

Oppression occurs in different forms such as neglect, rejection, abuse etc…

Over the years, I have learned that oppression comes to destroy us, and it usually occurs when every thing seems to be working well for the person being oppressed. For instance, I was once oppressed in a work environment. I thought all was going well with my colleagues and managers, until I began experiencing oppression. A situation that was supposed to generate positive results; ended up being negative. The oppression was caused by some specific individuals.

I later on evaluated the situation and concluded that not everyone likes/loves us in today’s world. Therefore, we have to be ready to face oppression when it occurs.

All the time, people oppress us with the intention of breaking us, but often fail to understand that no situation is permanent. Oppression doesn’t last forever.

I trust in God and believe that everything works together for my good. What other people and the devil intend as harm, will end up making me stronger, wiser and better.

Given that the devil only comes to Kill, steal and destroy, I rely daily on Jesus Christ who always causes me to triumph over every situation.

One of favorite Gospel artist: Marvin Sapp’s song entitled ‘Never would have made it‘ always encourages me to know that no matter what God is with us.

Go forth and be stronger, wiser and better than before.

Joy #AtoZChallenge

I often ask myself what joy is? As I pondered over it, I realised that joy is linked to Happiness.

Being Joyful is a state of mind, which could be contagious.

Let’s look at it, how often do we share our joy with others?

Happiness is sharing. Its better lived when shared. The Bible tells us in Romans 12:15 that “When others are happy, we should be happy with them, and when others are sad, we should be sad with them”.

Over the years, I noticed that the way we react when other people tell us about their lives determines the conditions of our hearts towards them. Our perception of them will either change or remain stagnant.

When we hear good things about others’ lives; do we usually rejoice or remain indifferent? Do we pretend to be happy or are we genuinely happy for them?

I always tell all people I meet that there is no need for us to be pretentious. Being joyful is a choice . It’s also a decision to rejoice with others in good times.

It’s our role as wise individuals to combat hypocrisy by being people who truly rejoice and celebrate with others.

There is no need to compare ourselves to others, because our paths and life stories are different and unique.

I therefore urge you all to genuinely be happy and rejoice with everyone around us in order to share the LOVE of CHRIST.
