Zeal #AtoZChallenge

This is my last post for the 2016 A to Z blogging challenge. Although I am late, I am glad I succeeded in completing the challenge.

My Z word is ‘Zeal’

How zealous are you about your everyday life?

Zeal often refers to great energy or enthusiasm in the pursuit of a cause or an objective.

By talking about zeal, it’s an encouragement to myself. With zeal I am motivated to pursue more. Despite the numerous constraints placed by life, I am able to accomplish most of my dreams and life goals.

We all know that it’s easier said than done, but we have to keep pressing on. In addition to zeal, we need the resources and a network to help us move forward.

For example, I needed zeal to be able to complete this A to Z blogging challenge. It wasn’t easy but I can give myself a pat on the back with ‘I made it’ .

So, What have you been waiting for?

Get some zeal and get going with life.
There will be rough days but the good days tend to exceed the bad ones.

Cheers to being zealous about life.

Yielding #AtoZChallenge

Yielding is tending to give in or surrender or agree. By default it’s hard to agree with people who are inferior to us or who have ideas inferior to ours.

As an example, most people think I have a hard time yielding to others in the midst of a conversation or conflict.
Today, I got told by a friend that I would likely have a hard time yielding and submitting to my future husband because of my authoritative and independent nature. Yes, I have been independent for quite a number of years mainly because life thought me to be so due to my solitary move to Canada, but you know what: I still respect authority.

It’s currently a learning process for me as I yield to others during a conversation or conflict. I am learning to be submissive to authority and trust other peoples’ judgement. It hasn’t been an easy process but I learn as I grow.

I have also learned that yielding isn’t a sign of weakness but rather a sign of respect, obedience and non confrontation. It’s often better to avoid an argument through yielding and establishing peace.

Conflict brings about resentment and discontent, whereas yielding brings about peace, calmness and submission.

I know it’s easier said than done, especially when we feel overwhelmed and right in a specific situation.

I encourage you to often practice yielding to others in the midst of conflict.

Xenophobia #AtoZChallenge

imageAlthough I am a day late, I will still write about it. It has been challenging to get a word with letter X, mainly because I rarely use this letter in words and sentences. At the beginning of the challenge, I had thought about using xenophobia as my X word, but until last night I was still not inspired to write about it.

However, after seriously thinking about it, I decided to use Xenophobia as my X Word. According to Wikipedia, “Xenophobia is the fear of that which is perceived to be foreign or strange. Xenophobia can manifest itself in many ways such as hatred, fear, anguish and bitterness”.

Whenever I think about the word xenophobia, I am tempted to remember South Africa. It’s not that I have lived in South Africa, but inclined to think based on the stories and news articles.

Xenophobia has a negative connotation, hence negative impact and influence. It’s important for us as individuals to combat xenophobia and live at peace with everyone. We are all born with a different skin tone for specific reasons, hence the importance of understanding our differences. Difference brings about diversity, hence growth, increase, development and wisdom.

Go forth and live with differences. Accept and recognize that although we are all different we can live together.

Words #AtoZChallenge

image
What words do you write and pronounce on a daily basis? Are the words positive or negative?

Do you often ponder over the words that come out of your mouth?

It’s important for us to realise that the words that come of our mouths either build people or break them.
By building and breaking others, they equally affect Us. Sometimes we say negative things to people, but the words come back to bite us.

Also, Do you look down on yourself with negative words, or you encourage yourself with words of affirmation.

For instance, Obama started a campaign with ‘Yes we can’, and the campaign has brought him far. He encouraged himself.

I think it’s time for us to believe in ourselves and encourage ourselves. Although situations may look hopeless sometimes, there is still light at the end of the tunnel. Words of affirmation are required for growth, success and networking.

Rewinding our lips and tongues into positivity will help improve our confidence and self esteem.

For how long do you process your thoughts prior to speaking or writing out words.

The Bible tells us in Proverb 18:21, “Life and death are in the power of the tongue and they that love it will eat it’s fruit”.

The words we say are either life or death. They make or break us. Therefore choose your words wisely.

Value #AtoZChallenge

image

Value is an important aspect of our lives. The way we value ourselves reflects our outlook on life, as well as our relationships and self worth.

Value could be defined as the regard that something is held to deserve; the importance, worth, or usefulness of something.

Or A person’s principles or standards of behavior; one’s judgment of what is important in life.

By our daily lifestyle, judgement and principles we are valued and constantly judged by others.

How much value do you ascribe to yourself? Or do you let others constantly define and devalue you?

We ought to showcase our values everyday. Broadcast our true selves and let other people know who and what we represent. By clearly outlining what we represent, be it in business, employment, community, friends and family, people will be ready to pay the price for our true value.

According to Warren Buffet “Price is what you pay, value is what you get”.

Our value is therefore worth more than its cost. No matter what people decide to pay, we ought to know what we represent. We should also be proud of what we represent, hence an improved self esteem.

A note to self: Appreciate your worth and be ready to stand up for your values and what you believe in.

Unity #AtoZChallenge

Today is Day 21 of the A-Z blogging challenge, and I feel great. This feeling of greatness is partly because you all. All my faithful readers and commentators.
Thank you for your support and unity. I call it Unity, because of your belief in me. You decided to tag along on my blogging journey.

Blogging is a journey for me, just as soccer or poetry might be for someone else. It’s a journey of self discovery, passion and growth. There is need for constant support in order for everyone to be successful in our different journeys.

Given that man/ woman isn’t an island, we are called to live and interact with others on a daily basis. We need people to join forces with us in order to take us farther. We can’t succeed by working alone. People who believe in our dreams encourage us to pursue and aim higher. Unity is therefore important and necessary for growth.

Who do you often unite with? If you don’t have any team members, I am willing and ready to join forces with you if need be. Networking at events also helps unite people and paths.

We all need people to unite with us. One can chase 1000 but, two or more can chase several thousands.

Therefore, go forth and unite with others as you pursue your goals.

Trends #AtoZChallenge

Given that I am considered as an expressive person, I often tend to reflect about life. As a result, I ponder over random things such as clothing, fashion, spirituality etc.

Lately, I have been thinking about how we live our lives, and the question below popped in my head.

Do we randomly follow trends or do we evaluate and measure the weight of societal trends and people’s influence prior to doing certain things?

By trend, I am referring to things such as fashion, lifestyle, finance, spirituality or any other aspect of our lives.

Very often, individuals of my age group are influenced by global trends. Some of us just follow the trends without any prior knowledge or research.
Therefore, how often do we take the time to evaluate and measure the density of the trends we constantly follow?

It’s good to follow positive trends, as long we acquire knowledge and wisdom. However, it’s bad to follow trends just based on society and its daily pressure. We need to check and ask ourselves where the pressure is coming from. Is the pressure coming from friends, acquaintances, family or the media? If it’s the case of friends, we have to reconsider who we associate with. As the popular saying goes: an individual is easily recognized by his/ her group of association. We therefore need to check our surroundings.

Also, trends could be good but shouldn’t cause us as individuals to be enslaved. I use this term enslave, because some youths and adults are bound by fashion trends, to the point where some people become indebted. It’s understandable to follow trends when you can afford it but, it should be hindered when priorities shift.

There is an added bonus of not following trends. You get to be-you-you-full and free.

Tell me, what do you frequently do: follow trends or remain unique?
